Chaz Whitworth of TBWA Media Arts Lab makes a visit to The Circus
The Circus is happy to welcome back ’10 grad Chaz Whitworth of TBWA Media Arts Lab. He’s won too many awards for us to list, but they include 3 Grand Prix Cannes Lions, 2 Gold Lions, & an Emmy. That’s right. He & the team at Pereira & O’Dell won an Emmy for “The Beauty Inside” for Intel & Toshiba. His most recent work has been under the direction of Lee Clow at TBWA/ChiatDay for Apple’s iPhone 5s & includes the “Go, You Chickenfat Go” spot & the celebration of 30 years of MAC shot by Jake & Ridley Scott to capture footage around the world on iPhone 5s. He’ll be here Tuesday, July 8th at noon to meet with students and look at books.
In his own words:
Chaz is a native of Kennesaw, GA the only city in the US that requires homeowners by law to own a gun. He grew up the son of two musicians, surrounded by gospel music and theater. Much of his time in Atlanta was spent training and teaching martial arts under Master Mike Reid, an ex Atlanta Falcons linebacker. He might have also taken ballet classes at one point, but prefers not to talk about it.
After 3 years he graduated high school and soon after enrolled into The Creative Circus Graphic Design program. Less than two years later he was hired by San Francisco based ad agency Pereira & O’Dell. Because he couldn’t go to bars he spent most of his time working on various projects, most notably “The Inside Experience” and “The Beauty Inside” for clients Intel & Toshiba.
