As an ad school, The Circus facilitates two competitive student shows a year. Every student is encouraged to submit their work and have it judged by industry pros. We give cash prizes to the best in show winners (a lot of cash in fact) and pizza is enjoyed by all. Categories are best in show, best art direction, best copywriting, best design, best image, and best interactive. You can view all the entries and winners here.

Best In Show: Whataburger
Courtney Perets, Hayden Griffin & Phil Fattore

Description:
For those who’ve never tasted it, words can’t describe how good Whataburger truly is. So let’s prepare only the minds and 4-of-5 primary senses (excluding taste) for Whataburger’s arrival, allowing Whata-virgins to focus on familiarizing their taste buds once the doors open.

Best Art Direction: Russell Stover’s Rebrand
Jenny Brown

Description:
The new Russell Stover’s chocolates fit every individual’s personal taste profile so every box is guaranteed to be your favorite.

Best Copy: Lexus
Conrad Kissel

Description:
To set Lexus apart from other major luxury car brands, we didn’t focus on the bells and whistles. We focused on smaller things being a big deal, during the design process of the 2015 Lexus IF. If the designers at Lexus focus on making things like paint colors, how the seats are stitched, or the suspension better, imagine how much better the bigger features are. This is Lexus’ obsessive pursuit to finding perfection.

Best Interactive: Mall
Courtney Perets

Description:
Mall is an image-sharing app that allows retail brands to post photos of their styles and products. With Mall, you can build and curate your own personal Mall and go window-shopping at all of your favorite stores. See something you like? Add it to your cart and keep shopping. When you’re finished, you can check out from all of your stores at the same time. And as soon as we figure out how to incorporate a soft-pretzel stand, you’ll be the first to know.
