Katy Hornaday (formerly Katy Graham) is an extremely talented Circus grad who’s landed on Business Insider’s list of the “30 Under 30 Most Creative People in Advertising”.  Her hard work at CP+B and her current role as ACD at Barkley in Kansas City have earned her a spot on this list, and we couldn’t agree more that she deserves it.

Rather than simply saying “Congrats!” we thought we’d take the opportunity to reintroduce one of the most interesting stories from The Circus that Katy happened to be an integral part of. It’s called Cookies For Cannes.

In 2008 Katy and three other Circus students, Liza Behles, Andy Pearson and Karen Gereffi, learned they were the recipients of the AKQA Future Lions award. However, they learned of this news only days in advance and, understandably, had no room in the budget for an impromptu trip to France. So the group did what anyone would do – they attempted to raise ten grand in 24 hours. Totally logical, right?

Right indeed. In fact, the quartet of winners sold cookies so fast — and for so much money — they only needed half a day to reach their goal. Two days after putting on their bake sale, they were off to Cannes to accept their figurines in person.

Watch the video below detailing where Katy, Andy, Liza and Karen ended up following their wins and take a look at Katy’s visual retelling of this event on her blog. While you’re there, be sure to congratulate her on her latest achievement.

Congrats, Katy!
